The Challenge
Despite vast fertile land across our 236 wards, Ogun’s agricultural sector has faced structural stagnation. Rural farmers labour with outdated tools, limited access to mechanisation, and little protection from post-harvest spoilage caused by weak storage infrastructure.
When harvests succeed, predatory middlemen buy produce at giveaway prices—leaving farming families in poverty while urban households face soaring food inflation. The producer is punished; the consumer is starved.

As founder of Solomon Kessington Agro-Allied Limited (SKAAL)—West Africa’s largest single-owned livestock farm spanning over 60 hectares in Iperu-Remo—Hon. Ladi Adebutu is bringing proven industrial agricultural expertise into government through the Ogun Food Security Network.

Operational Execution
Direct State Off-Taker Hubs will buy cassava, rice, maize, vegetables, and other harvests from smallholder farmers at fair, guaranteed fixed rates—with immediate digital cash payouts upon delivery and zero middleman exploitation.
An aggressive infrastructure programme will grade, tar, and maintain rural feeder roads linking interior farming communities to major transit corridors, supported by community grain silos and solar-powered cold storage to cut post-harvest spoilage.
Drawing from the SKAAL industrial blueprint, farmer cooperatives will access tractors, automated harvesters, and subsidised high-yield fertilisers. Localised biogas projects will convert organic waste into community electricity and affordable liquid fertiliser.
